More than 10 yrs before the many of the hoarder and collector TV shows were conceived, I was, in the Poconos, managing to keep my consignment store afloat by taking on side jobs like stocking shelves at a grocery store to pay my bills and other odd or part time jobs.
After I traded my car for an old pickup truck to be used for hauling consigned goods, locals began asking if I’d take away worn out furnishings; appliances, etc.Several day jobs & years later, my name became synonymous with my company, Junkologist.
By 2007, a Philadelphia newspaper reported on my business and I began volunteering at the annual Give and Take event. My life partner, Carol Ann, & I bought a 18th century farmhouse which included a massive yard, and outbuildings where my junk, rubbish, garbage, repurposing, reselling, charitable donations business was headquartered.
This kept the overhead down so, I only had to charge a fraction of what my competitors did. After my long time partner went to Heaven, I liquidated our estate, sold our homestead to friends, and moved to the northern region, in South Carolina.
